Consider Edna Pontellier’s decision to pursue love and desire beyond her marriage in The Awakening. To what extent do you think the pressures of gender role expectations excuse, or fail to excuse, her affair with another man?

Prompt Response: Edna's affair was influenced by her feeling alone and trapped within her marriage. The roles that she had to play where very strict that she began to lose sight of herself. The pressures were her long desires of wanting her own freedom and to find her identity. Her choice to go ahead and to have an affair with another man doesn't excuse the fact that she turned out to be unfaithful.

Summary: September 11, the class was given an assignment on common lit then analyzed the story "I don't want a wife"

Reflection: strive to be the best that I can be everyday in any way possible. To reach my long term goals and to become the best that I can be everyday.
