Prompt: Think about a film that represents your culture (or a culture you identify with) in a positive and meaningful way. Explain how the film represents the culture and why this portrayal matters. Be sure to include specific examples from the film.

Prompt Response:  The film Coco is a great example that represents Mexican culture in a beautiful and positive way. It really focuses on the tradition of the day of the dead, showing how important family, music and remembering our love lost ones. For example when the film shows the offerings, the bright orange and other range of colors teaches us that death isn't something to be scared of, but a way to stay connected to those we love. This matters because it celebrates our heritage with pride instead of using old stereotypes, making people from our culture feel seen and understood.  Summary: April 21, 2026 Reflection:   I strive to be the best that I can be everyday in any way possible for the better good of my mental, physical, and emotional health, and so that the people around me can also get the very best of me.

Prompt: The short film Born With It shows how stereotypes can shape the way people see others and even how individuals see themselves. Reflect on the main character’s experience and explain how stereotypes impacted his identity and sense of belonging. Then, connect this to a broader idea: how can stereotypes influence the way a culture or group is understood by others? Use specific examples from the film to support your response.

Prompt Response:  in the film the main character feels like an outsider because his classmates use mean stereotypes to judge his appearance. These lies make him feel lonely and hurt his sense of belonging at school this shows how stereotypes can treat people into seeing a group as different or scary instead of getting to know them. The story teaches us that labels keep us from seeing people for who they really are. Summary: April 20, 2026, Absent  Reflection:   I strive to be the best that I can be everyday in any way possible for the better good of my mental, physical, and emotional health, and so that the people around me can also get the very best of me.

Prompt Response:  After graduation I am really looking forward to college, I am going to be the first gen in my family and it means a lot to me already that I am graduating, showing both my parents that I indeed was capable of going through 4 years of high school under any conditions. College for me is the next big step in my life, I want to start studying for my career and be able to provide for my family without a worry. I also want to prove to myself that I can be more in life. I want to start to get things that I once thought I could never have. Working while being in college and hopefully soon have my own place where I can learn and grow to be independent on my own and knowing that my parents and siblings can count on me if they ever need anything because I really want to be the one that will be able to make it out and have a healthy life style.  Summary: April 24, 2026, In class we are going to go over a Ted talk assignment and afterwards I am going to continue my...

Prompt: Why do you think filmmakers continue to use stereotypes, even when they can be harmful or inaccurate? Explain one reason discussed in class and give your opinion on whether this justifies their use.

Prompt Response:  I personally think that the reason why filmmakers continue to use stereotypes in film even if they can be harmful or inaccurate is because I do personally believe that it can be 50% true at times. When it comes to Mexicans or Hispanics there's a lot of stereotypes and although at times I do get offended, I do sit and think about it because even thought I don't show the stereotype some people in my race do, but it is never okay to fully assume that  a certain stereotype is what makes a person whole. It will always be a 50/50 with me, I'm not trying to sound a certain way in this prompt but this is what I strongly believe and people can either agree or disagree but everyone has their opinions.   Summary: April 16, 2026, Went on the Kennesaw Mountain trip!  Reflection:   I strive to be the best that i can be everyday in any way possible, to reach my short term goals and to later on in the future reach my long term goal so that i can li...

Prompt: Think about the most stereotypical film you have ever seen. This could be a movie that represents a specific culture, race, gender, or group in an oversimplified or unrealistic way. In your response, explain what film you are referring to, what stereotypes were present in the film, and how those stereotypes shaped your understanding of that group at the time

Prompt Response:  When I think about a stereotypical film I think of "Scary Movie". Even though its a comedy film it also heavily exaggerated regarding race, gender and groups. An example being is the "dumb blonde" which the name speaks for itself and is directed towards white blonde female women. Scary movie also includes very exaggerated portrayals of Black characters, some of the Black female characters are written out to be loud and obsessed with drugs and I strongly believe that this is only written in a way to grab a laugh from the audience. At the time when I first watched Scary Movie I thought that these certain groups of people were meant to die first in the film. Instead of being characters that are supposed to be taken seriously, film-writers made me believe the complete opposite.  Summary: April 18, 2026. In class we watched 2 videos on how Asian and Black women are portrayed in films Reflection:  I strive to be the best that I can be everyday in any way...

Prompt: Hair can be a powerful way people express who they are and where they come from. Think about your own hair, your style, texture, or how you choose to wear it. How does your hair connect to your culture or your identity? Describe a moment when your hair made you feel proud, uncomfortable, or misunderstood, and explain why.

Prompt Response:  In my culture long dark black hair is an expectation or a beauty standard. Curls are adored but I think that people tend to like straight hair makes you look more elegant if you know how to wear it. My natural hair is curly not straight. My hair Is currently damaged so I tend to straighten it a lot. As of now I do have mix feelings about my hair since I do tend to miss my curly hair, in my culture it, curly hair makes you seem more younger, but having my dark black straight hair also makes me feel very good about myself. I no longer have my hair long so at times I do feel like I slightly struggle to keep myself feeling good about my hair. Summary: In class we had to complete our blogger first and share a few of our responses, then afterwards we do our assignment for the day.   Reflection:  I strive to be the best that I can be everyday in any way possible for the better good of my mental, physical, and emotional health, and so that the people...
