Prompt: Think about the most stereotypical film you have ever seen. This could be a movie that represents a specific culture, race, gender, or group in an oversimplified or unrealistic way. In your response, explain what film you are referring to, what stereotypes were present in the film, and how those stereotypes shaped your understanding of that group at the time
Prompt Response: When I think about a stereotypical film I think of "Scary Movie". Even though its a comedy film it also heavily exaggerated regarding race, gender and groups. An example being is the "dumb blonde" which the name speaks for itself and is directed towards white blonde female women. Scary movie also includes very exaggerated portrayals of Black characters, some of the Black female characters are written out to be loud and obsessed with drugs and I strongly believe that this is only written in a way to grab a laugh from the audience. At the time when I first watched Scary Movie I thought that these certain groups of people were meant to die first in the film. Instead of being characters that are supposed to be taken seriously, film-writers made me believe the complete opposite.
